Server Roles

Physical Servers represent bare metal servers that were targets of the collector run.

Virtual servers represent targets of a collector run where the system was identified as a virtual machine.

Hypervisor Servers are targets of a collection identified to be hosting guest virtual machines.

Guest Virtual Machines are a count of virtual machines reported by each hypervisor server.

*Live Optics does not capture direct performance information from Guest VMs, unless the Guest VM is added directly in the collector as a remote server target. In this latter case, the directly monitored system will be listed as Virtual. However, performance from servers marked as Guest VMs will be captured indirectly in the activity on the hosts.

IOPS

Live Optics monitors the read and write operations at the block storage layer of the host operating system. IOPS are the Input / Output Operations per Second performed by a physical server host or a virtual machine.
